Food, cooking, love and fun

Steamed crab and boiled shrimps

Since I noticed how cheap the crab was at 99 Ranch, I finally decided to cook one!

Look at this “aggressive crab”! It was alive when I got it but after a few hours in my hot car, it died before dinner :( saved us the trouble to struggle with it. RIP crab.

We used Sarah’s big pot and the super pot Ruru got me to make a steamer! The crab was ready in less than ten minutes!

Our first time trying steaming crab was a success! Since it’s summer, the crab meat was not as much as we would get in the fall, but we enjoyed it to every piece :)

Taro pancakes!!!

Ruru and I woke up Saturday morning, decided to try taro pancakes :) we had fresh peeled taro, flour, baking soda, butter, Ruru rushed to buy eggs, milk and vanilla extract (personal preference :), salt and sugar. We followed online recipe and the pancakes turned out to be delicious! I made a heart and Ruru made a Mickey :)

In addition to yummy pancakes, Ruru cooked eggs and sausages :)

It was a wonderful breakfast :)

July 4th Feast!

We went to China Town before going to Fisherman Wharf to watch fireworks. We were planning to eat at Z&Y Restaurant, but there was a long line outside and we didn’t have enough time so we headed to this Shanghai Restaurant across the street. I only tried Shanghai cuisine once in US and always in favor of spicy Szechuan food. It turns out the Shanghai cuisine was unexpected yummy and authentic :)

We had Xiaolongbao, spicy wanton, Dongpo Pork and of course garlic eggplant. Ruru and I both enjoyed the soup in the Naomi and fatty but not oily Dongpo pork. We were satisfied :)

My first time making eggplant box and it was a success!

Ruru was wiping the oil out of the deep fried eggplants lol

We also had yummy savory Zong Zi to celebrate Duan Wu, the Dragon Boat Festival.

Ruru said the eggplant box was now on his top list food I cooked :)

It’s two weeks since my graduation! This is my graduation dinner with my love at a very special and authentic Chongqing & Sichuan Restaurant in San Mateo. I had the most authentic spicy Chinese food I ever had in US: spicy and numb baked fish, spicy jelly noodle and Ruru’s fav taro chicken which was also spicy! I was surprised how much Ruru’s spicy tolerance had evolved since our early date at Nola

Back to this cute Japanese restaurant we first went to on our early date. It’s such a cute restaurant with tons of stuffed animals and comic books. The TVs are showing anime. Ruru watched Totorofpr the first time :) We sat at the same table and served by the same Japanese American mixed girl :) Ruru had the pesto udon. I had Napolitan pasta. We had garlic bread for appetizer and we asked for one more piece of toast to clean Ruru’s pesto sauce. It was a satisfying dinner before we went to Kabuki and watched Transformer 4.

Fancy birthday dinner at Carmel!

First time trying tapas! Yummy yummy! Poor Ruru burned his hand on his also my fav dish - the seafood rice!

The most popular restaurant in China Town. We finally came!

The dinner was great especially considering I only has one banana for today.
